Sawdust Carvings is a northern Minnesota
company designs and fabricates wood and metal creations.
The Augmented Reality (AR) Sandbox classroom kit was developed for the STEM classroom. The AR sandbox uses lidar mapping and terrain software to calculate the sand surface then projects a 3D color visualization with contour bands onto the surface in real-time. The projection will help students learn about mapping and can be used to teach lessons on the use of terrain contours as the topography changes in real time.
The finished kit is designed to save space within the classroom and fit though standard doorway without disassembly. It includes all the items needed for instructors to guide students through the complete sandbox build. Students can use the sandbox for presentations to peers, younger students and/or school events. The kit can be easily dismantled for the next group of students to experience the build. The sandbox can be purchased substantially pre-assembled and configured.
Larger format sandbox builds are available by request.
